Continuing the journey from dusk until dawn, the Panorama of the Friche resembles a party scene that night owls have abandoned but which machines continue to operate autonomously, sparks produced by a never-ending celebration. The night has always been seen as a space to be controlled by the political powers that be, an authorised celebration within a limited period of leisure, a temporary relief from work and social time. Dreams, sensuality, festivities alter the well-established balance between work and play, reason and passion, abstraction and emotion, and compensate for the mistrust of the future and progress, the lack of investment in the future. Yet here – nestled amongst the glitter and dancing of robotic automatons – is the feeling of the artificial as the phantoms and ghosts of our current society materialise before us.
