D’un soleil \u00e0 l’autre<\/em> is the title of this installation, composed of two hand-hammered gongs connected to a radio telescopic antenna set up a few dozen meters away in the park. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The sound events perceptible in this piece are the result of capturing, in real time, the frequency of the electromagnetic field generated by the sun,” explains St\u00e9phane Thidet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each of the two gongs has its own plastic and sound properties ; one echoes low frequencies, the other high ones. “Every celestial body emits a frequency that is inaudible in space, due to the vacuum that characterizes it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What interested me was to find a way to bring back, almost materially, such distant events. I didn’t want to use loudspeakers, for example, which only transcribe, but to translate the phenomenon by a musical instrument, to create a very physical relationship.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
